Damn Heels

I found a pair of "Damn Heels" flats at the Clothing Show in Toronto this past weekend. They were 20$ and I ended up using them the same day. Basically you get a leather pouch with ballerina flats folded up inside, and when your heels kill, you can unfold the pouch into a bag to put the heels in while you slip on the flats.

Founded by Hailey Coleman, Damn Heels is dedicated to saving women from their (beloved) damn heels.

After one excruciatingly painful, hour-long post-party walk home in London, England, Hailey decided that walking the streets barefoot was a faux pas that could – and needed – to be prevented.

“We adore our heels, and we’ll certainly never stop wearing them. But they should never stop a woman from dancing till dawn."

I appreciate the inovation...except for the part that it's not very original yet she is getting awards FOR being ORIGINAl.... In reality the same idea has been done before by Matt Horan, read more about it here.

JANUS et Cie Furniture...

Just had saw this awesome furniture piece, but I believe that it's not in production anymore. It's designed by JANUS et Cie.  They get a lot of publicity and they have a variety of interesting works, some more unique then others...

Watch Mania

So yesterday's post got me looking at watches again.
I saw a very cool vintage watch in a magazine a couple weeks ago and I was trying to find something similar and got way too carried away :)

This one is called UNO 24 by Botta-Design. It's a more modern version of the one I wanted, as it has the full 24 hours of the day in one full circle of the hand. And it's just cool. But since its one handed, its hard to tell minutes....though considering I have the Stark watch now...I'm sure I can learn to be accurate if I get this one.

Here are some more:
The Average Day
The Accurate
Mr. Jones Watches are a cult brand from London that specializes in these specific watches that always put an interesting spin on time-telling. I'm a big fan.

Starck O-Ring Watch

I've had this watch for two years now, so its a little beat up but recently I've been getting a lot of comments on it. I've perfected the explanation of how it works to under 15 seconds now, depending how quick the person is to catch on.

Me wearing the watch :)
Some better pictures of how it looks, found on a Watch website: Watchismo.
It might be surprising but I never noticed how different this watch is from normal ones.

Extra Time = Random Crafts

Technically it's not that I had "free" time today but in comparison to how much time I spend yesterday working on studio, today was essentially a day of freedom and all this "extra" time. So instead of studding for tomorrow's Structure Quiz I decided to do crafts :P hahaha
The random things I bought today on Queen St.
Not sure exactly what this is...kinda like a badge/pin/pocket cover?

The mess I made :P

Inspiration

Inspiration for Marina Abromivic's Studio:
These two projects are "Chicken Point Cabin" and "The Brain" respectively, both by Olson Kundig Architects.
These are of a projects called "Cloister House" by Tezuka Architecture. But their website has a BUNCH of very interesting modern, yet highly influence by Japanese tradition, houses that are fun to look through.

Then they are some random pictures, that if I really wanted I can find the names and architects for, but Since I'm not analyzing them, but  just being inspired, I don't want to go through the trouble :)

More process on this project to come :)

Emma Watson Burberry Ad

This is from 2009, but I only recently was it in its entirety. So pretty. (Tough she's almost too pretty to ever be a Hermoine, which sucks because I'm such a not-so-secret Harry Potter fan)

I also saw her mini role in One Night Only's "Say You Don't Want It" just now. The song is really good and the video is so cute :)

And here is a "Behind the Scenes" as well, just because I found it interesting :P

Cheers!

Reinier de Jong and the REK bookcase.

The expandable REK bookcase has been a obsession of mine for the past couple months, ever since I saw it in the 3rd edition of Transmaterials (good book for random stuff by the way) and recently I finially found out the price and just how unattainable it is, haha...
But I still love the designs! Here is a brand new one that quirked me :)

Notice the steps, then notice that its more of a double step pattern and then notice that it is actually just normal steps with a quirk :)

And here is the bookcase I love soooooo much just for fun:

POTS the musical

This is just funny, but also amazing in its detail. I wish I had the means and the talent to do this with my extra time...

This is done by gnarly bay; a production company by Dan Riordan and Dana Saint.

New York Fashion Week Speculations

Well, I'm obviously too poor to be there, BUT I have been looking through some photos, and once in a while I'll stumble across a photo or two that I LOVE, like this:
Aren't they pretty? I don't even know who they are by, but I'm looking into it.

Current Preoccupation - STUDIO FOR MARINA ABRAMOVIC

First Studio porject of the year is always very conceptual and "creative". This year is the same, we are baing asked to create a studio space for a NON-visual artist.
chose Marina Abramovic as my inspiration for a whole bunch of reasons.
But all you really need to know is that she is a performing artist, most active in the 70's, Serbian, very provacative in her work, and interested in the limitations of the body and mind. Basically she's hard-core. (In my mind I imagine her as  a grizzly bear, haha)

Here is a promo/trailer for "The Artist is Present" one of her more recent performances:

Here is a video of a movie/experiment/training she leads:

NOW, coming back to my project, these are some ideas/progress sketches/concept designs for the studio I'm creating for her:
Well, that's it for now. Gonna get started on the next step. Editing, re-working the design and all that.

Alexa Mulberry Bag

I've been staring at pictures of this bag for the last 3-4 weeks, every time going a bit weak at the knees. It's so perfect. Everything I could possible want right now. Perfect for school, going out, both casual and easy to pair with nice clothing too. Over the sholder, or across, or breifcase style, or I've even seen people carry it like a clutch. It's just an amazing everyday bag! But its 1250$ at the cheapest, and usually sold out.
There are moments when I just wanna say "Fuck it, i'm gonna OSAP it"* but I know that's stupid. I need to either be rich or get a job, haha  :) One of these days....

Alexa Chung with the Mulberry bag named after her.
The bag can be found on the Mulberry website, but it's almost always sold out... here is a link anyway.

* - OSAP is a program that gives students money (part load, part grant) in Ontario, Canada so they can go to university and such. It's supposed to pay for living expenses too, so this year I have just enough left over after paying tuition to buy the bag, but i know that i need the money....to well live :) ....but i can live without the bag.

Right before watching "Easy A" for TIFF @ Trinity Square

WELCOME!
This is my first official post. Just an outfit I wore a couple days ago. There will be more to come. But this is not a fashion blog by any means. I'm an Architecture Student so there will be plenty of building design, unique furniture, interesting quotes, books, my own projects and struggles as well as rants and wants(though I will try my best to keep the crazy to myself).

Trinity Square is such a pretty little sanctuary in the middle of downtown, and its never overly crowded either :) More pics from there to come.

Items: Corduroy Trench from Esprit, a couple years ago though. High waisted pants from Zara. T-shirt from Levi's. Pearls from Aldo Accessories.  Leopard print lace-up shoes from H&M. Scarf and Purse both Vintage. Shades are Ray Ban Clubmasters.
